£20,000pa – (Full-time, Monday-Saturday (5 days out of 6) variable shift pattern)

Camphill Holywood Coffee Shop and Bakery is a homely, busy café in the centre of Holywood.  We are a caring coffee shop, where a young parent can bring their children and find five minutes of peace in a sensitive environment or where a walking group can rest their feet after a trek along our breath-taking coastline.  Six days a week, we offer our customers wholesome, organic food, made with love and care.

 

Camphill Holywood seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic Bakery & Coffee Shop Manager with a proven record for growing footfall and sales in the pursuit of improved profitability.  You will be responsible for building the business by creating a positive reputation for great quality produce and happy, caring customer service, helping to build our brand based on our values: Healthy, Wholesome & Community.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the team of staff and volunteers in the Baker/Shop/Cafe to foster our ethos of inclusion, opportunity and support whilst achieving financial targets to generate profits which can help the Community achieve our mission. The candidate will be working alongside and reporting directly to the Registered Manager of Camphill Holywood, overseeing the day-to-day running of the cafe floor and bakery and playing a key part in managing the roles and responsibilities of all team members throughout service.

 

 

Responsibilities of Bakery & Coffee Shop Manager:

  • Ensuring effective operation of the Bakery, Kitchen and Coffee Shop
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene and health and safety legislation
  • Establishing and maintaining control over the supply chain
  • Manages set budget
  • Preparation and maintenance of a hygienic safe environment that satisfies all food regulatory requirements (how does this differ to the point above?)
  • Ensuring great customer service
  • Helping to build the Camphill Holywood brand
  • Supervising and helping to create opportunities for work experience for people with learning disabilities
  • Identifying opportunities for generating income through sales of different products/in alternative venues (i.e. stalls, deliveries etc.)
  • Collecting sales and production data for use in strategic business planning

 

Essential criteria

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Hospitality management, equivalent qualification or 3 years’ relevant experience 
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification

Experience & Essential Qualities

  • A proven record of effectively managing and developing sales / profit in a café/coffee shop or in a hospitality related service 
  • Be IT literate and have the ability to use social media to advertise and raise the profile of the café
  • Experience of managing and motivating staff and diplomatically handle concerns from customers, staff and volunteers
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Be able to cope well under pressure and work independently with initiative
  • Willing to undergo training in key areas as well as understand and embrace the values of Camphill Communities

 

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Barista trained
  • Experience of managing volunteers  
  • Experience of working with people with disabilities
  • Demonstrable skills in providing financial and management information
