Volunteers Needed to help Support Older People Live Well With Dementia in Northern & Belfast Trust Areas.

Age NI has launched an exciting new project called ‘My life My Way’ funded by the Big Lottery Campaign. The aim of this project is to promote the personal autonomy and decision making of hard to reach, older people with dementia who are isolated and at high risk of disempowerment.

Information & Support Volunteers will:

Positively enhance the care needs of individual older people;

Reduce the risk of loneliness and social isolation;

Help rebuild an older person’s self confidence;

Learn new skills;

Feel great about making a positive and life changing difference;

Learn and share your knowledge about related services and

  activities in the local area and how to access them.

Age NI will provide you with on-going training and guidance, one-to-one support, out of pocket expenses and firsthand insight into the dementia and aging process.

 I get a lot of satisfaction from volunteering as I enjoy helping others and it's also an opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills. It does my heart good! (John - Volunteer)

We are all growing older and I hope that there will always be volunteers to support projects like My Life My Way. (Des - Volunteer)
