Relatives for Justice seeks to recruit an advocacy worker. This post has been developed as part of the PEACE IV Programme and will join the RFJ advocacy team under the Senior Advocacy Director

Relatives for Justice seeks to employ a highly motivated and dedicated advocacy worker to join our advocacy team.

This project (funded through PEACE IV) offers support, advocacy and advice in relation to Truth, Justice and Acknowledgment to families bereaved as a result of the Conflict. The post holder will be required to support, advocate on behalf of, and advise families who wish to engage with statutory and other bodies in respect of their bereavement and/or injury. 

Purpose: The role of the Caseworker will be to;

  1. Support and advise individuals injured and families bereaved by the conflict engaging transitional/legacy mechanisms;
  2. Support and advise families and individuals injured and bereaved  by the conflict facing inquests and/or where investigations and/or prosecutions are underway;
  3. Engage any potential relevant mechanisms aimed at dealing with the past and transition in compliance with RFJ policy;
  4. Support families to obtain materials/documents concerning their injury and/or bereavement;
  5. Support families to document their experiences.

The postholder will be expected to work under pressure and to deadlines and in recognition of this RFJ offer excellent terms and conditions including, 21 days annual leave plus office closure days, paid offline supervision, 8% pension contribution and an excellent Time Off in Lieu arrangement.

The successful postholder will be expected to bi-locate between our head office in Belfast and our Mid-Ulster office in Dungannon.

The funding for this post will end on 31st March 2021.
