Events on CommunityNI

The first thing to know about adding content is that you need to be registered and logged in to CommunityNI. If you're not already registered, you can go here to do that. It's free.

If you're already registered and logged in, you may either add an event from your Dashboard or by clicking on Add Event from the menu in the Events section.

Once you've clicked to create an Event, add your event information - you'll notice some fields have a red asterisk beside them, which means they are compulsory fields and you won't be able to publish your event without filling them in.

If you will be repeating your event on a series of dates, you can duplicate your information by using the 'add another date' button under the date section.

Tips about the information to include in your listing:

  • a named contact with email or phone details in case people have queries
  • let people know if the venue is fully accessible or not
  • add a link to your website if you have one, so that people can find out more about you, as well as your event
  • add keywords to help people find your post

If you have a specific funder or project logo that needs to be included, a button in the images section will allow you to upload them. Upload any accompanying files - an event programme for example - make sure your contact details are correct and hit 'save'. Your event should show up on the site immediately. 

Need to change something?

You'll find a list of all the content you've added to the site in your Dashboard. There's always a chance you may need to change or add something, and we hope we've made that easy for you. Simply go to the article you'd like to change and click on the Edit tab above the article heading. This will allow you to review and edit the information you originally added. Once you've made your changes, just click 'save' again. 

Event dates

If your event is part of a 'series', for example taking place over three days, or taking place on a number of dates, you can add those additional dates in, too. After the event date has passed, it will no longer appear in the site listings. However, from your profile, you can still access any content you've posted from the links given, if you need to go back and verify anything afterwards.
