A short seminar/discussion focusing on the impacts of welfare reform on women, learning from the experiences of those working with women in Scotland.

Now that the Welfare Reform Bill has fallen in the Assembly everyone is still unsure of what will happen next with the Bill, and the Assembly.

However it is important that our sector remains focused on what really matters - the impact of welfare changes on people and communities. We can learn much from looking elsewhere to what other people are already facing.

With this in mind NICVA led a delegation to Scotland in March were we met with a range of organisations and learnt a lot about the effects of welfare reform on their service users and areas.

Following from this we have now arranged for a number of these organisations to come to NICVA and share their knowledge and experience with the sector here. Each event will focus on a different user group.

For this event we have asked Jill Scott, Policy Manager at Engender to share her experiences and engage in a discussion with us. Engender recently published the research report "A Widening Gap: Women and Welfare Reform".
