The State Retirement Pension is increasingly becoming a challenging and ever changing area of advice. Given the raft of welfare and pension reforms detailed knowledge of the pension is becoming an important advice need for older people and those planning their future retirement.

Advice NI’s  Advantage Older Persons Adviser Course is offering a fully updated State Pensions module covering all aspects of the State Retirement Pension including all reforms to date and analysis on future impacts. The aim of this course is to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the State Pension.

The course focuses on the different components of a State Pension such as :

•             Basic Pension and Additional Pension

•             How National Insurance  contributions work

•             How  the State Pension is influenced by different circumstances (e.g. marriage, divorce, living abroad or bereavement),

•             Implications of working after pension age and working or moving abroad

•             Deferment of State Pension

•             Challenging a State Pension decision.

•             Pension Reforms and the legislative context.

This unique and detailed course will give advisers up to date knowledge on what can be very difficult subject matter and learners will have the option of accreditation for this course through Pro-Qual at Level 5 for legal advisers or OCN level 3.
