Self Directed Support is being implemented regionally within Northern Ireland as a route to personalisation enabling an individual to have choice and control over their care and support.
The principles, of Self Directed Support work closely with the values underpinning the standards set by RQIA and the values that strengthen the standards of conduct and practice outlines by NISCC. This one day course will provide an awareness of Self Directed Support.
By the end of the course the learners will:
- understand the 7 stages of Self Directed Support
- understand how an Individual Budget can be used
- explore what is involved for the individual
- have discussed local and national developments of Self Directed Support.

Volunteer NowTraining/AdviceThis course is aimed at individuals who recruit, manage or supervise staff and volunteers working with children and/or adults. It will examine the procedures that need to be put in place for effective recruitment and selection of staff and volunteers including requirements under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order, the current and former definitions of regulated activity and how to exercise careful judgement when assessing information on an Access NI Disclosure Certificate. It will also look at the procedures required for the effective management of staff and volunteers including induction and training, breach of code of behaviour and referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service.- - -
