SAFEGUARDING ADULTS AT RISK OF HARM SEMINAR (FULLY BOOKED)
Association for Real Change NI
DUE TO DEMAND EXTRA DATE ADDED | THURSDAY 1 DECEMBER 2016
Across your organisation there will be many people who are taking responsibility for safeguarding. It’s everyone’s responsibility.
However with the introduction of the Safeguarding Champion role, it is imperative that key leaders within your organisation come together to reflect upon how best they can:
- monitor patterns of alleged incidents, and their organisational/workforce response
- review lessons learnt and consider policy implications
- implement lessons learned into practice and build the capacity
- increased confidence of their workforce in responding appropriately.
This one day seminar will unpick the role of the Safeguarding Champion and offer participants the opportunity of exploring scenarios that have resulted in Serious Case Reviews.
Facilitated by Joyce McKee, Regional Safeguarding Officer (NIASP) and Joan Maughan, Independent Chair, Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board and member of the National Network of Safeguarding Board Chairs.

Participants will:
- understand the key principles of the new policy and social context of Safeguarding Adults at risk of harm
- understand the role of the Adult Safeguarding Champion (ASC) within the context of new policy and procedures for Northern Ireland

- determine how individual organisations can implement the policy and procedures and support the development of the ASC role
