NICEM Policy Seminar on employment barriers to integration for non-EU nationals

Cost: Free - registration essential

NICEM host a closing policy seminar to explore the findings of their INTEGRO project on employment barriers to integration experienced by Third Country (non-EU) Nationals.

NICEM are the lead partner in a consortium representing Northern Ireland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Cyprus, guided by the ENAR Toolkit on Integration on 'INTEGRO - Integration on the Ground' project.

Through the INTEGRO project, NICEM have explored employment barriers to integration of non-EU nationals through an extensive mapping exercise, focus groups and roadshows thoughout 2014/15.  The employment issues explored included glass ceiling for ethnic minorities, vocational and technical English language needs, discrimination in the workplace and recognition of qualifications and work experience.

The policy seminar is a key element of the INTEGRO project and will focus on policy recommendations around the recognition of work experience and qualifications gained outside the EU and consider the policy implications of the DEL review of ESOL provision in NI.  Senior officials from both DEL and the Equality Commission will speak at the event.

The closing seminar presents an opportunity to bring together key stakeholders and policy makers to look at barriers to integration on the ground and identify the way forward in affecting change.

The seminar will take place at Belfast’s Wellington Park Hotel on Thursday 19th March from 10.00 (for a 10.30 start) -1pm followed by lunch.  Registration is essential.
