How financially sound is your business? As a start-up business your financial planning is crucial and being an ‘expert’ in all areas can be demanding!

Whether you decide to hire an accountant or book keeper you still need to understand basic bookkeeping and money management principles. Getting it right from the start can make a big difference to the success of your business.

This workshop will be informative and interactive and is for you if you would like to: gain a better understanding of what’s coming in and going out of your business, gain an understanding of the different financial management tools available and obtain tips on how to avoid late payment problems.

This workshop is designed to provide UnLtd Award Winners and social entrepreneurs with an introduction to money management.  The goal of the workshop is to help social entrepreneurs to:

  • Understand what bookkeeping is and why it is important
  • Be able to create key documents such as invoices
  • Understand how to keep appropriate records for their social enterprise and legal requirements
  • Gain an overview of financial statements – profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow
  • Identify the various resources their social enterprise will require
  • Estimate the cost of obtaining those resources
  • Classify the different costs that their social enterprise will require
  • Understand the break-even analysis for their social enterprise
  • Understanding how to effectively manage the cash flow of their social enterprise
  • Establishing purchase payment options for their customers and appropriate payment terms      

Who is most likely to benefit from the workshop?

Social entrepreneurs who are in the start-up phase and need to learn the fundamentals of money management.

Networking Lunch

This is a half-day workshop which will end with a networking lunch at 1.00pm. Please stay for lunch to chat with, and learn from, other inspiring Social Entrepreneurs.

Award managers will be available for 1:1 question and answer sessions in the afternoon, if you wish to stay after lunch.

About the trainer:

Bill Ellison, Clear Accounting NI (www.clearaccountingni.com)

Bill is an experienced Accountant and Strategic Consultant. He has worked in Ireland, the UK and Eastern Europe. In addition to Accounting and Financial Management he is also a trained business mentor. He has extensive practical experience of establishing Financial Control & Reporting systems for small companies, management buyouts, strategic planning and restructuring struggling businesses. 

At Clear Accounting NI he is developing a team dedicated to helping their clients grow their business through understanding and controlling their finances, working with the latest Xero Cloud technology. 

Besides working with Clear Accounting clients, he has acted as a business mentor for Castlereagh and Lisburn Council, North Down Development Organisation, The Princes Trust and Business in the Community. He works extensively with Enterprise NI and several local Enterprise Organisations helping start-up businesses develop business plans and find finance.  Bill is a director with Argyle Business Centre.
