This course has been designed to provide essential knowledge and understanding of Manual Handling techniques and safety for employees working in any sector of business, whether manufacturing commerce, public sector or the service industries.

This course has been designed to provide essential knowledge and understanding of Manual Handling techniques and safety for employees working in any sector of business, whether manufacturing commerce, public sector or the service industries. Delegates on this course will receive a certificate accredited by Health Matters, or if they require a CIEH Level 2 certificate then this will involve a short CIEH test at the end of the training (additional fee applies).

Good health and safety standards rely on employers and employees working together to reduce risks and prevent accidents and ill health arising from work activities. 

Why Manual Handling Training?

Nearly a third of all workplace accidents reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) involve manual Handling.

The following is included in the syllabus:

  • Relevant Legislation: Employers and Employees Responsibilities
  • Manual Handling Operation Regs 1992, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regs 1999
  • Responsibilities for reporting risks and injuries
  • Rudiments of spinal mechanics and causes of back pain
  • Introduction to Risk Assessment – an ergonomic approach
  • Principles of efficient body movement and posture
  • Practical relevant to working role
  • There is a 30 question, multiple choice exam at the end of this course. Certification following completion of training is issued by CIEH and is valid for 3 years.

Course Details

  • Duration:  3 Hours (Additional time for those sitting the CIEH test)
  • Cost:        £50+vat per person (Health Matters Accredited Certificate)
  • £65+vat per person for (CIEH Level 2 accredited Certificate)
  • Group costs to be agreed with Health Matters (H&S) Ltd sales team.
  • Certificates: Certificates are valid for 3 years
