LiveNet is designed to help people with a learning disability, their family members and carers to develop the skills and knowledge to use information and communications technology (ICT) in everyday life.
LiveNet’s ICT and Leisure Activities course is accredited by the Open College Network for Northern Ireland(OCN NI). Learners can work towards a recognised qualification in a friendly and informal learning environment.
The workshops are suitable for individuals with a learning disability and participants must be at least 16 years old.
The aims of our workshops are to develop basic digital skills and to encourage participation in the community. The workshops currently available are:
1. eSafety (1 credit)
Explore issues around eSafety and develop the skills and knowledge to protect yourself and your computer.
2. Using the Internet (1 credit)
Find out about computer equipment, searching the internet and using email.
3. Word Processing (2 credits)
Create, store, edit and print documents.
4. Digital Photography (1 credit)
Make the most out of images by learning how to edit photographs quickly and easily.
5. Active Citizenship (1 credit)
Find out about different cultures in your community, what is going on locally and how to get involved.
Delivery Schedule
The course is flexible: single, multiple or all workshops can be delivered. If a qualification is required a minimum of three credits will need to be completed in order to achieve the OCN NI Entry Level 3 Award. All participants will receive a certificate to acknowledge their achievement and participation.

Prices start from £230 - £650 depending on your choice of workshops.

It covers: The role and responsibilities of the Designated Officer Health and Social Care Trusts structures and processes Issues and experiences around referrals and sharing information Recent developments in safeguarding children and young people.- - -Keeping Children and Adults Safe: Training for Staff and Volunteers Refresher Training
Volunteer NowTraining/AdviceThis course is aimed at individuals who recruit, manage or supervise staff and volunteers working with children and/or adults. It will examine the procedures that need to be put in place for effective recruitment and selection of staff and volunteers including requirements under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order, the current and former definitions of regulated activity and how to exercise careful judgement when assessing information on an Access NI Disclosure Certificate. It will also look at the procedures required for the effective management of staff and volunteers including induction and training, breach of code of behaviour and referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service.- - -
