This is a FREE* 1 day certificated course (Belfast, 11 January 2017, 10.00am - 4.30pm). It is being held in Conference Room, Arches Centre, 1 Westminster Avenue, Belfast, BT4 1NS.

This training will raise awareness of vulnerability, provide a background into legal responsibilities in relation to safeguarding vulnerable adults and examine the procedures that need to be in place for the recruitment, selection and management of staff and volunteers. It will assist voluntary, community and independent sector organisations working with vulnerable adults to achieve the minimum standards of best practice as outlined in the publication 'Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults - A Shared Responsibility'.

This is a one day certificated course for those individuals who manage or supervise staff and volunteers working with vulnerable adults and those with governance responsibilities.

It will cover:

  • awareness of abuse issues;
  • procedures for reporting concerns;
  • code of behaviour for staff and volunteers;
  • legal implications and responsibilities to safeguard vulnerable adults;
  • procedures for recruitment, selction and management of staff/volunteers; and
  • dealing with allegations against staff/volunteers.

If you have attended either our Keeping Adults Safe: An Introduction or Keeping Adults Safe: Training for Staff and Volunteers within the last 12 months, you may wish to attend the afternoon session only. Please discuss with our team prior to booking.

PLEASE NOTE: This training will be provided for Voluntary, Community and Independent sectors and a maximum of 5 participants from any one organisation will be accepted on to each training course.

Cancellation policy Should you need to cancel your booking, no charge will be applied if written notice is received 5 working days before the course.  Volunteer Now regrets that if written notice is received less than 5 working days before the course, or no notice is given, a £10 cancellation charge will be made.  Volunteer Now reserves the right to cancel a course at any time. Please note for free courses - the cancellation charge still applies.  Once you receive your confirmation email, no further reminders will be issued.
