On the 23rd February, NIEL’s Heritage Lottery Funded “Investing in Northern Ireland’s Heritage” programme will be hosting a free workshop on legacy fundraising in partnership with Will to Give. Will to Give promote charitable giving in Northern Ireland and provide support to the charitable sector in developing legacy market.

This workshop will introduce legacy fundraising and highlight the opportunities presented to the heritage and environment sector in Northern Ireland.

“In the UK, 74% of people support charities but only 6% of them leave a charitable gift in their Wills when they die. Yet, 35%, when asked, say they would be happy to leave a “small amount” to a Charity in their Will….The figures are truly stupendous. In the UK, in the ten years to 2011, the money left in legacies to charities varied between £1.7 billion and £2.1 billion…The sums involved are so huge, the impact of this money is so transforming, that it transcends any other form of fundraising...”
