The Hidden Value of Music Therapy in Palliative Care

.

On 12 October 2017, join Marie Curie for a lunchtime policy seminar on music therapy and end of life care, sponsored by Paula Bradley MLA.

Marking Hopsice Care Week 2017, the event will reflect on new research from Marie Curie, Queen’s University Belfast and Everyday Harmony to explore the impact of music therapy on the quality of life of patients living with terminal illness.

Addressing issues like pain, fear and isolation is crucial to maintaining the best quality of life possible during end of life. The seminar will bring together a panel of expert speakers to discuss the positive impact music therapy can have on the social, physical, spiritual and psychological wellbeing of palliative care patients.

Guests will hear from:

  • Lisa Graham-Wisener, Research Lead at Marie Curie Northern Ireland

  • Tracey McConnell, Post-doctoral Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast

  • Jenny Kirkwood, Music Therapy Manager at Every Day Harmony

  • Conall Dunlop, Music Therapist at Every Day Harmony

  • Grace Watts, Development Director at the British Association for Music Therapy

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience, chaired by Paula Bradley MLA.
