Governance for new trustees

NICVA

NICVA

Cost: £40 members/£60 non members

This session will cover the essentials of good governance not only for new trustees but also for those who would like more information on their role as a trustee.

Learners will hear about charity trustee duties, responsibilities and potential liabilities, setting these in context with the recent regulatory developments.

The roles of the office bearers and the committee as a whole will be considered, along with useful practical information to help trustees fulfil their role more effectively.  The training will help learners identify actions which your Board can implement to improve governance through the use of the Good Governance healthcheck.

It will define the role of the Board of an organisation and the successful running of charitable organisations; examine the structure of the community and voluntary sector; you will consider the skills needed for, and the composition of, the board along with succession planning.

The trainer will explain the importance of best practice including, inductions and conflicts of interest policy; and will outline the new framework for charitable status under the Charities Act 2008.

The training takes place on Wednesday, 28 May from 6.00pm - 8.30pm in NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast.
