First Aid at Work Refresher Course
This is a 2 day requalification course for anyone who has a current HSENI accredited certificate in First Aid at Work. Individuals have 28 days from date of expiry to complete this course and renew their qualification.
The Health and Safety First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 (Northern Ireland 1982) requires employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.
The HSE accredited course will provide the successful delegate with a renewal of a current HSE accredited certificate in First Aid at Work valid for three years.

This First Aid course will be delivered over 2 full days. The course covers training in the following areas:
- Responsibilities of the Appointed Person
- Action at an Emergency
- Primary Assessment
- Secondary Assessment
- Breathing Disorders
- Principles of Resuscitation
- Airway Obstruction
- Disorders of Circulation
- Bites and Stings
- Foreign Objects
- Burns and Scalds
- Bones, Joints and Muscle Injuries
- Poisoning
- Head Injuries
- Effects of Heat and Cold
- Child and Baby Basic Life Support
- Wounds and Bleeding
Who is this course designed for?
All persons who are to be employed as First Aiders in the workplace and currently hold a FAW certificate and are wishing to renew it.
Maximum of 12 candidates per course.
Assessment: All delegates will carry out written and practical assessments.
