CSA – An Introduction for Counsellors and Support Professionals
Nexus
A one day workshop aimed at counsellors of all levels who work with victims/survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). This workshop will also suit health and social care, education, or criminal justice system professionals who support survivors.
The training aims to provide participants with greater awareness of the global prevalence of CSA and to highlight the psychological, physical and behavioural impact it has on victims.
Key theories and definitions of paedophilia and sex offending are explored, as are the profiles of perpetrators.
For counsellors the training will illustrate the counteractive/corrective potency of the ‘Person Centred’ approach in sex abuse counselling, and demonstrate the effective application of current theories and models to counselling practice through a process of observation and participation.
