This course is aimed at Nursing, Care and other staff working within a variety of care settings including
hospitals, care homes, domiciliary support and supported living schemes.

It is relevant to those who use substances hazardous to health at work and introduces participants to
the hazards associated with those substances, the risks and controls available and what to expect from
a COSHH assessment.
On completion of the training the participant will be able to look carefully at their own work activities
and contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in co-operation with their managers and
supervisors.
Course Content
The following is included in the syllabus:
- · COSHH Regulations, Employer / Employee Responsibilities
- · Definition and types of substances hazardous to health in the workplace
- · Health effects of hazardous substances and their causes
- · Control measures and monitoring exposure at work
- · Segregation and storage of clinical waste
