The Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) Armagh breast cancer support group is holding its next meeting on Wednesday 8th February at 7.30pm in Dobbin Street Community Centre.

Support groups are complementary to any on going medical treatment and aim to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer. Phil Quinn and Gladys Nugent will be facilitating the meeting and Dr. Gyneth Hinds, Associate Specialist, Breast Unit, Belfast City Hospital will be the guest speaker and will talk about ‘Family History Risk Factors’.

Deirdre Conlon, Care Services Manager, UCF said, “The support group is open to anyone who has breast cancer as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members.  There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.

“The support group meetings are informal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said.   Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life.”

Light refreshments will also be available. For further information or to confirm your attendance please contact Eileen Creery at UCF on Tel. 028 9068 0742.
