Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death globally. Response time is critical for survival and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can make the difference between life and death. AED is a technology that has now been made available to the general public and not just to ambulance paramedics. These amazing, easy to use machines greatly improve the chances of survival of any casualty when used appropriately. This course teaches the skills required to operate an AED safely and effectively.

About the AED Course

Our courses aim to teach delegates how to effectively and safely operate an AED. We provide practical hands-on skills training during the course in an enjoyable and enthusiastic manner in order to fully engage delegates and build their confidence in using this vital life-saving device. This course is delivered over 2.5 – 3 hours and covers the following:

Initial assessment of casualties
Secondary assessment of casualties
Performing CPR
Principles of Resuscitation
Heart Attacks Signs and Symptoms, Treatment and reducing our risk
The Chain of Survival
Understanding Ventricular Fibrillation and Defibrillation
Hands on use of an AED and delivering a shock
Casualty management

Who is it designed for?

Anybody who wishes to be trained on the use of Automated External Defibrillators. CPR is also taught on this course which makes this course accessible to all. All delegates receive certificates valid for 12 months in CPR and AED.

Keeping Children and Adults Safe: Training for Staff and Volunteers Refresher Training

This course is aimed at individuals who recruit, manage or supervise staff and volunteers working with children and/or adults. It will examine the procedures that need to be put in place for effective recruitment and selection of staff and volunteers including requirements under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order, the current and former definitions of regulated activity and how to exercise careful judgement when assessing information on an Access NI Disclosure Certificate. It will also look at the procedures required for the effective management of staff and volunteers including induction and training, breach of code of behaviour and referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
