Newry Carer Information Programme gives carers the opportunity to develop their knowledge about dementia and access information to support them in their caring role, beginning on Thursday 5th Nov for 6 Thursdays focusing on different topics each night

5th November – What is dementia? (Dr Macauley, Consultant Psychiatrist)
12th November - Overview of Memory Service (Social Worker)
Alzheimer’s Society (Pauline Murphy, Dementia Support Worker, Heather Von Loggerenberg and Aaron Frazer)
19th November – Dental and Oral Care (Anita Kavanagh, Dental Hygienist)
Diet (Liz O'Connor, Dietician)
Sight (Optomise)
26th November – Assistive Technology Equipment (247 Care Direct)
Fire Safety (Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service)
Benefits Entitlements (Catherine Redmond, Outreach Officer)
3rd December – Financial Assessment & Nursing Home Fees
(Financial Assessment Team)
Finance & Legal Affairs/Power of Attorney
(Conor Murphy, Office of Care and Protection)
10th December - Behaviour and coping strategies
(Community Psychiatric Nurse, Memory Team)
